Fr. Stephen J. Anthony

Born:  June 12, 1922 in Peabody, Massachusetts

Parents:  Demetrios and Despina (Carvounaris) Antonio

Siblings:  Augustus Antonio, Pythagoras (Pat) Antonio, Priscilla Gikas, and George Antonio

Graduate of:  Peabody, Massachusetts High School, Class of 1941.

Employed:  General Electric, West Lynn, Massachusetts

Enrolled in: Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Theological School, first in Pomfret, Connecticut and then in Brookline, Massachusetts.

Graduated:  Class of 1948

Married:  February 27, 1949 to Helen Athas (sister of Fr. John Athas)

Ordained Deacon:  April 16, 1949

Ordained Priest:  April 17, 1949

First Parish:  April 19, 1949, Kimisis Tis Theotokou (The Dormition of the Virgin Mary) Greek Orthodox Church, Aliquippa, Pennsylvania

Author of:  Flickering Reflections, memoirs of a Greek Orthodox priest reflecting parish life and spiritual struggles, comprised of 81 brief and witty anecdotes and moving illustrations of sincere and devoted Greek Orthodox Christians.

Fr. Anthony was instrumental in getting "Greek Orthodox" recognized as a legitimate religious choice on military dog tags following WWII.

Fr. Anthony moderated an ecumenical local television program in West Palm Beach, Florida called the Association of Religious Organizations (ARO) Hour.

Fr. Anthony is a past-president of the Exchange Club, Farmington, Michigan.
