Fr. Angelo A. Papatheofanis

Born in the village of Shelemna in the state of Arcadias June 7, 1928. Finished grade school in Shelemna. Continued on to High School in Tripoli for two years. At which time Greece was occupied by Italian and German troops and all schools were closed. For two years all schools were closed.

At the end of the two years he enrolled in the Seminary School located in Corinth. He finished Seminary School in 1954 seven years after enrolling. After completing Seminary School he joined the Greek army for three years.

Married to his wife Maria Karnezis on July 10, 1960 in Shelemna, Greece. In October 20, 1961 they moved to Austrialia. In March of 1962 Angelo was ordained a priest in Austrialia. He was ordained by Archbishop Ezekiel. For five years he was a priest in Morwell, Austrailia.

In May of 1967 he moved to the United States. In December of 1967 His Eminence Archbishop lakovos of America had him appointed to Sioux Falls, South Dakota. He served faithfully to the Transfiguration Greek Orthodox Church for thirty years. Where he raised three children, Aristotele, Chris, and Anastasios. Received the Ofikion Pnevmatikou [Father Confessor] by Bishop Thermon John on October 3, 1976. On June 23, 2003 he was awarded the office of Protopresbyter by His Eminence Metropolitan Isaiah of Denver.

He has seven grandchildren. William, Ellaine, Evangelos, Gavrieal, Angelo, Alexandros, and Aristotle.
